Really nice review of Skin Horse on Small Press Reviews here.

Stumptown!

Pancha, Leia, Liz, Konstantin, Andrew and I will all be at the Stumptown Comics Fest in Portland, Oregon this weekend, manning the Couscous Collective table. Stop by!

Quick change to my WonderCon plans: I’ll be at the Girl Genius booth with Phil Foglio.

Couscous at WonderCon

Andrew and I will be at WonderCon in San Francisco this weekend, working the Cartoon Art Museum booth. Stop by to say hello and/or purchase Narbonic and Skin Horse books.

Also, we’re on panels!

FRIDAY
2:00-3:00 Hero Initiative and “Ed Hannigan: Covered”—
Hero Initiative president Jim McLauchlin and Cartoon Art Museum curator Andrew Farago preview the Gallery’s “Ed Hannigan: Covered” exhibit. See some of the great art that will be up for auction and catch the world debut of the Ed Hannigan video, celebrating the works of the great artist. And hit the Museum Friday night at 8:00 pm for a great party! Room 232/234.

SATURDAY
11:30-12:30 Spotlight on Judd Winick: The Ugly Truth!—
WonderCon special guest Judd Winick (Batman, Justice League: Generation Lost) — comics writer, cartoonist, and “reality TV has-been” (Judd’s choice of words, not ours!) — is holding court, taking questions, and battling back all comers in a no-holds-barred Q&A. The controversial creator will be discussing new work, old hullabaloos, and how he’s come to “love the haters” with the Cartoon Art Museum’s Andrew Farago. And there may be cookies. Room 220

3:00-4:00 Spotlight on Gail Simone— WonderCon special guest Gail Simone is the fan-favorite writer behind such DC titles as Wonder Woman, Secret Six, and Birds of Prey. Comic creator and journalist Shaenon Garrity (Narbonic, Skin Horse) interviews Gail about her career and upcoming projects. Room 232/234.

SUNDAY
1:00-2:00 From Page to Screen—
WonderCon special guests Peter S. Beagle (The Last Unicorn), Jimmy Palmiotti (Painkiller Jane), Tim Powers (On Stranger Tides, the basis for the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie), and Greg Rucka (Whiteout) talk about their own experiences in seeing their creations make the move to the big—and small—screen. The Cartoon Art Museum’s Andrew Farago moderates. Room 103.

The Cartoon Art Museum’s annual WonderCon fundraising party is Friday night. On that special night, if the museum has received enough donations, Andrew will get the Bat-Symbol shaved into his head. I’m a little worried by how excited he is about this.

Skin Horse Moving Sale!

I’ve got an extremely awesome sale going on for Skin Horse right now. From now until the end of January, for every copy of Skin Horse Volume One you purchase, I will send a randomly selected original daily strip. These normally sell for $50, but I’m moving and I need to lighten my load.

Oh, and if you want a specific strip, you can purchase one for the normal price of $50. Which might be worth doing if you don’t want your favorite strip to go to somebody who doesn’t appreciate it on the same level you do.

Strips are about 4″ high by 11″ wide, ink on bristol. Most strips look about the same as they do online, plus or minus some correction fluid. Start the new year with comic art!

Please visit the Couscous Collective Store or e-mail me (at) shaenon.com for more information!

Interviews at Sequential Tart

Both Shaenon and Andrew have been interviewed by Sequential Tart! Check out what makes them tick, who there influences are, and what they’re up to next.

New Li’l Mell

The end.

Thus ends “Homeschool Joe Goes to School.” I’m going to Japan for a couple of weeks, and then I’ll try to figure out what to do next with Li’l Mell. I’ve got a lot of stories in mind but no particular plans for how to tell them. We’ll see.

I Write About Yaoi

After a long absence, GraphicNovelReview.com is back, and kicking off the relaunch is a scary huge essay I wrote on yaoi manga. There’s more yaoi stuff to come, and I’ll be writing regular graphic novel reviews for the site for as long as they keep paying me.

Also, I keep forgetting to mention that my biweekly column for Comixology.com, “All the Comics in the World,” is still going strong. My latest column is about the silent issue of G.I. Joe.

New Li’l Mell!
